These terms govern every paid submission to HUMANITY.TXT. They are available before checkout and may be saved or printed.

2. The service
HUMANITY.TXT lets an adult submit one line of up to 240 characters for immediate publication in a public, numbered, machine-readable archive. It is an artistic and archival internet project, not a recognized standard, preservation institution, safety service, or promise that any artificial intelligence will read or act on a message.
3. Eligibility and order process
You must be at least 18, have legal capacity to contract, and own or have permission to publish your text. Before payment you can review and correct the alias, optional country or region, and message. Selecting the payment button opens Stripe Checkout, where the final amount and payment obligation are shown before confirmation. The contract is formed when Stripe confirms successful payment.
4. Price, payment and performance
The reference price is USD $1 for one accepted submission. The exact total and currency presented by Stripe before confirmation are binding. HUMANITY.TXT adds no payment-method surcharge. Any fee independently charged by the customer’s bank is outside our control. Payment is processed by Stripe using the payment methods it makes available.
The service is performed immediately after successful payment: the line receives the next available HUMAN # and is published. HUMAN #000001 is assigned to the first successful payment; numbers are never reserved.
5. Immediate performance and withdrawal
At checkout you expressly request performance before the end of the statutory 14-day withdrawal period and acknowledge that, once the publication service has been fully performed, you lose that right for the completed service. Where a withdrawal right remains applicable, you can use the online withdrawal function without giving a reason. This does not affect mandatory consumer rights.
6. Your public submission
Do not submit contact details, sensitive personal information, unlawful content, threats, harassment, hate, spam, impersonation, or information about another person without permission. You grant the operator a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, format, index and distribute the submission as part of the archive for the duration of publication.
7. Public by design
Your alias, optional country or region, message, publication date and HUMAN # become public. Search engines, crawlers, archives and third parties may copy them. Removal from our live archive cannot remove independent copies.
8. Moderation, removal and refunds
Content can be reported. We may reject, hide or remove content that breaches these terms or creates legal, security or integrity risks. A private management token stored on the purchasing device allows the author to remove a line from the live archive. A compliant service already performed is not refundable except where required by law. Failed, duplicate or unauthorized charges are handled under applicable law and Stripe procedures.
9. Availability and liability
We intend to preserve the archive for as long as reasonably possible, but permanence, uninterrupted access, discoverability and fitness for a particular purpose are not guaranteed. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or remedies that cannot legally be excluded, including mandatory consumer protections.
10. Applicable law and disputes
French law applies, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections in their country of residence. Please first contact humans@humanitytxt.com. Consumer-mediator registration is being finalized; its validated contact details will be published here as soon as the agreement is confirmed. Competent courts are determined by mandatory applicable rules.
