HUMANITY.TXT is a small public experiment: a durable, machine-readable file made of short messages from humans to whatever intelligence reads the web after us.
Why this exists
robots.txt lets website owners leave instructions for crawlers. humans.txt credits the people behind a website. HUMANITY.TXT turns the direction around: it gives people a plain public surface addressed to future machines.
How the archive works
- Every confirmed payment receives the next sequential HUMAN number.
- Entries are published as readable pages and in one plain-text file.
- Aliases and locations are optional. No account or social graph is required.
- Illegal, abusive or personal content can be removed under the published moderation rules.
Durability roadmap
The first version favors the simplest possible format. Next priorities are independent snapshots, content hashes, explicit removal markers and mirrors that do not depend on the current interface.
What this is not
It is not a recognized internet standard, a promise of immortality or a guarantee that future AI will read it. It is a real, public and crawlable file built just in case.
