2. Data that becomes public
Your alias, optional country or region, message, publication date and HUMAN # are deliberately published on the web and in humanity.txt. The legal basis is performance of the publication contract. Do not submit information you want to keep private or personal information about anyone else.
3. Data processed privately
We process a random management token in hashed form, a Stripe checkout identifier, payment status, amount and currency, the accepted legal-text version and timestamp, moderation reports, withdrawal requests, and ordinary security data such as IP address, user agent and timestamps. Stripe processes payment-card details; HUMANITY.TXT never receives a full card number.
4. Purposes and legal bases
- Publish and manage the line, confirm payment and provide support: performance of the contract.
- Maintain accounting and transaction records: legal obligations.
- Prevent fraud, rate-limit abuse, secure the service and defend claims: legitimate interests in operating a safe public archive.
- Handle reports, removals and consumer requests: legal obligations and legitimate interests.
5. Retention
Unpaid drafts expire after 24 hours and are deleted during routine cleanup. Payment and accounting information is kept for the period required by applicable law. Security, report and request records are kept only as long as needed to handle abuse, disputes and legal claims. Public lines remain in the archive until removed, lawfully moderated or the service ends.
6. Recipients and transfers
OpenAI Sites hosts and maintains the published Site; Cloudflare provides infrastructure, storage and security; Stripe provides payment processing. These providers may process data outside the European Economic Area under their applicable transfer safeguards. Public submissions can be accessed and copied worldwide.
7. Local storage and necessary cookies
The site stores your language preference and private line-management token in your browser. Cloudflare and Stripe may use cookies strictly necessary for security and payment. HUMANITY.TXT currently uses no advertising cookies or cross-site analytics. If non-essential tracking is added later, consent will be requested first.
8. Your rights
Depending on the legal basis, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection. The management token can remove a line from our live archive. We may request information necessary to verify the request. You can contact humans@humanitytxt.com and lodge a complaint with the CNIL, 3 Place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, France.
